COMMUNITY DRIVEN
A word from our owner
The Smith Family has been serving local communities as McDonald’s for nearly 40 years. As a second-generation franchise owner, I’m committed to continuing our proud tradition of operating “people first” restaurants. Hiring and training a highly skilled and diverse workforce is our key to success.

COMMUNITY DRIVEN
Family owned franchise since 1984
James “Smitty” Smith first became a McDonald’s franchise owner in Houston, TX in 1984. With the support of his wife, Debra, James moved his franchise business to Los Angeles in 1987. In 1993, the family moved across the country to own and operate McDonald’s restaurants in Greensboro, NC. Following his father’s lead, Adrian opened his own franchise company, Ice Age Management.
The Smith Family strongly believes in giving back to their local community and supporting educational opportunities for youth and young adults through their charitable foundations, ADDS Love Foundation and the Smith Family Endowment of North Carolina A&T University.
A commitment to social responsibility
We're proud to be a part of the communities we serve
McDonald’s commitment to social responsibility dates back to our founder, Ray Kroc. Forty-nine years ago, long before the term “social responsibility” surfaced, Ray Kroc understood how important it was to give back to the community. It’s part of our DNA. Supporting charitable activities addressing diabetes, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and chemical dependency, Ray Kroc provided our first model for McDonald’s outreach. Through involvement in youth sports, local charities, and events that inspire the world, giving back is an essential part of the way we operate every day.
